As the title states!

I am completely new to AR's but gather that both are among the most respected and trusted manufacturers. Questions I have;

- From what I've read the DD comes with a custom .223 barrel (as opposed to whats offered down south) and the Stag a .223 Wylde. Anyone give pros & cons of either??

- The V5 comes with a 12" HG if im not mistaken and the Stag a 9". Is a longer HG preferable? More control with an AFG more forward??

Any other thoughts or opinions on the two would be greatly appreciated!!

Side note: Can anyone comment on the Stag 8R?? Does it have a worthy piston system or is DI the better route?

picked up a model 2t myself jes after x mas . so far 500 rounds through it and i couldnt be happier.

It's the 3G that was holding up the order, I understand they were waiting on triggers from Geissele (who are backed up three months at the moment).

Message was that everything is shipping, I understand that to be the 3Gs as well, but haven't yet seen the packing info, just the weights and dims.

Have the question in.

From what I'm seeing of the 2TR model is appears to be a carbine length gas system, while the DD is a midlength gas system. Depending on who you are that may or may not matter.

I can offer an opinion on the Stag 2T. It's a great AR15. Everything on mine appeared to be what is expected for so called tier1 stuff. Proper staking, H buffer, F front site, milspec for stock etc. The fit and finish is very good. On mine the upper is slightly greyer than the dark black lower. That is my only criticism.

In comparrison to other AR15 rifles I own: I have an Armalite AR15 and LMT mrp as well. Fit and finish on both are excellent. The Armalite was even staked properly. Both had that dry lube film in the upper. The Armalite was the enhanced police carbine version and has the regular handguard. The LMT was the monolithic version. Both are nice for their purposes.

But the Stag 2T is an all around favourite of mine. For some reason the action on my Stag is exceptionally smooth. The Armalite and LMT feel the same but aren't as smooth as the Stag.

There are lots of quality choices. Be carefull with the so called lists. Both my Stag and Armalite have options not listed as standard.

I've read good things about DD but Ive never seen one. So sorry not much help there.

great post thanks i think i am leaning towards the stagg

It would be a close call.

Daniel Defense Omega rail vs. Samson rail
Mid-length vs. Carbine
CHF vs. ???
.223 vs. .223 Wylde

I have had some Stag products. Great stuff. When I opened my last box from A.E I said to myself "Why can't everything look this good"
And of course, A.E is a CDN manufacturer and Importer of Stag.

Thanks for the input epoxy7 and rivetc78! Having no experience with either doesn't help my cause and im sure I wont get to shoot either prior to purchase so having as much advice as possible is a plus. Im sure both are great rifles that will feel insulted by my lack of skill as both will shoot way better than i do. At the moment im leaning towards stag as i have been eyeing them for a while and have only heard good things. DD is a recently discovered/ considered option; not that this means DD is any less deserving of my attention!!

I have a DD carbine and it runs flawlessly. No Experience with Stag but you will not go wrong with either.
