Hi Guys,
Looking at your input to help me choose between one of these 2 :-s
DD Mk18 or Colt Canada SAS 10.5 ?
Pros ? Cons ?
What are your thoughts ?
Thanks
Cheers

Both are solid. I give the edge to the SAS IUR, as it is a one piece upper, and bomb proof design, as well as having an anti corrosion coating on the barrel.

I have a factory DD MK18 (and also a Colt MK18) and an 15.7 CC IUR. Now I know my IUR isnt a 10.5 however the overall construction and idea is the same. While the DD and CC are both top shelf product, my vote if for the CC. Buying a CC you are getting a true Mil Spec rifle that has a tested and proven track record far beyond the civilian range that Daniel Defense has been limited to.

My vote 100% is for the SAS IUR.

As the above have mentioned, the MK18 is a fine rifle but when I had my SAS IUR it was an incredibly well built, solid rifle that shot really well. To some degree I regret selling it, but I had 2 10" rifles and one had to go.

The MK18 by Daniel Defense is merely a commercial version of the MK18, the SAS IUR is the same actual production run that is issued, to the SAS guys. You'd be hard pressed to find another actual military run of uppers like these, of this level of quality.

I say go with the Mk18. Proven design and QC from a reputable company that is on par with Colt Canada.

The reason why I give the edge to the Mk18 over the SAS is because you can modify and customize it at your discretion. You won’t be able to do that with the SAS.

At the end of the day, both rifles are quality and have qualify barrels and are “milspec”.

Get whichever you think is cooler.

In order:

-Colt MRR
-Colt IUR
-DDMK18

DDMK18 is a commercial version of a rifle. Colt MRR and IUR are actually issued to soldiers doing some surgical work on the battlefield.

Not to mention we are likely seeing the last of the SAS IUR's and I don't know if CC will make anymore available for sale again. I think Nordic Marksman got the last of them. Pretty soon the only place to pick them up is going to be here on the EE.

No there is a few more runs coming. SAS needs more next year.

I would get both. SAS first. Then MRR. It’s lighter and more built for the average man or LEO.

Good to know cansofcom is the average man...

Op the dd will be lighter. As will the mrr. The mrr and the iur have actual service history. The dd... not so much outisde of smaller uses... depending on how much you shoot the dd barrel will suffer from gas port erosion the most, the sas iur the next, the mrr the least of the 3. Thats on the currently available barrel configs of 10.3, 10.5, 11.6

The SAS is if I’m not mistaken similar to the CSOR model. The MRR is a lighter rifle. Closer to standard Gov barrel profile weight. But yes the standards of a Canadian man have dropped significantly over the last 70 years.

The old CSOR model you mean... which was also a 11.6 model.
