So i just recieved my DDM4V5 today and i was told i got the "New" version and i was under the assumption that they were marked 5.56 and when i got it, it was .223. has this happened to anyone else? is there anything else that will be different internally? This is still chambered for 5.56?

thanks

From what I have been hearing, all of their rifles are chambered for 5.56 (if marked .223). However marking them .223 was more to ease exportation from the states.

My buddy and I shot our dd's last weekend. Mine is a 2 year old v1. His is a 2 week old v5. Both marked 556. I believe the first round of imports earlier this year were marked 223 for export and then the rules were relaxed again and they switched back to 556 markings.

Perhaps a few in the middle got the new rails but used up the last of the 223 marked parts.

As already stated by others it is chambered in 556 either way as that is all dd makes.

Flash hider appears to be different as well.

Ahh, you are right. Just found this from DD:

June 11th, Daniel Defense made the move to a new rail system on most of our DDM4 models: The DDM4 Rail. The DDM4 Rail is designed using our patented Bolt-Up System. Instead of 6 bolts, the DDM4 Rail only requires 4 bolts. The lower rail in this design is closer to the barrel and was designed for the most optimal ergonomics. Front and Rear Sling Adaptors are integrated into the left and right side rails. The DDM4 Rail measures 1.9" wide, 2.165" high with an inner diameter of 1.08".

Aside from the slimmer, more compact design of the rail, the length required for each DDM4 model will not change. Versions traditionally offered with a 7.0", 9.0", 9.5", or 12.0" rail are being replaced by the DDM4 Rail with the same length & options based on the barrel configuration. The DDM4v7 and MK18 remain unchanged.

It is important to note the new DDM4 Rail will only be available on complete rifles and upper receiver groups; they will not be available for individual sale. Previous rails standard on Daniel Defense rifles will still be available to purchase through dealers or through Daniel Defense.

Along with the new DDM4 Rail, we are launching our Daniel Defense Flash Suppressor and Daniel Defense Front Site Base. The DD Flash Suppressor, 1.875" in length, will be standard on all Daniel Defense rifles. It was put through rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure its performance is significantly better than the standard A2 flash hider. The DD FSB will also be standard on all models that traditionally ship with the A2 FSB. Opposed to being forged, the DD FSB is CNC machined and salt bath nitride finished.

All of them are chambered 5.56.

Perhaps a few in the middle got the new rails but used up the last of the 223 marked parts.

Exactly. Our 1st and 3rd shipment was marked 233 and the 2nd shipment was marked 556
