Can anyone advise if you can bring these non NFA guns into Canada? I know all the paperwork you need, but will the Department of State approve the export of something like a de-registered non NFA Colt LE6921? I saw some for sale on the Knesek guns site down in the states. I don't want them to take a deposit from me and have the Department of State sh*t can the DSP83. Anyone had any first hand experience, positive or negative?

Thanks,

M.

Are you a U.S. resident moving out of the U.S., or a Canadian looking to get a gun exported from the States into Canada? The latter is covered ad nauseam, as for the former, I'm not sure, but I believe you can get a one time export permit for your firearms when leaving the country. Also, certain SBR and SBS's would be either non-restricted or restricted in Canada (as long as they weren't cut down), so importing them is not an issue. Like with the Colt, the problem is getting it out of the U.S., not in to Canada.

I am a Canadian, and I realize that some of this has been discussed before and I have read most of it. I know you can bring up guns from the US and have familiarized myself with the process so I think I am OK with regards to how to do it. What I am not sure about is if non-NFA guns are any easier to import that an NFA registered gun, and will the state department approve the export of a non NFA Colt LE6921? Would like to know before I put a deposit down and then find out it can't be done.

Thanks,

M.

Have you tried calling the state department ? apparently they have a 24/7 information line from some posts ive read ..

I know that if said firearm is marked with a military caliber on the firearm ie 5.56 or 7.62 nato , it will be denied , folding stocks , muzzle devices , telescoping stocks etc arent allowed to be exported out of the country either .

NFA guns are generally prohib in Canada, except for SBR's (if you try to export an NFA firearm the answer will ALWAYS be NO, from USDOS). If you're trying to import a Colt 16 inch AR15 into Canada from the US the answer will be no if the following things apply; the rifle is calibre marked 5.56mm or 7.62mm, the rifle has a flash hider which is screwed on to a threaded barrel end, the rifle has a stock which telescopes. These rifles are not exportable from the US. Any AR15 type rifle, no matter how compliant WILL require an import permit from DFAIT and an export permit from USDOS. If, by De-registered NFA - you mean it was full auto in police service and they have converted it to semi, the answer will be NO from DFAIT as the firearm is a 12.3 prohib. In addition, if the rifle crosses the border with magazines that contain more than 5 rounds, as soon as you are in possesion of the rifle and magazines, you are guilty of an offence punishable by 5 years incarceration or a $5000 fine or both. Y'all have fun now.

So I guess its not gonna happen, not the answer I was looking for but thanks.
