Deactivating tokarev

Can someone enlighten me on the best way to do this myself . I definatly have the skills to do it but wondering what a professional would weld to be good enough . Thanks in advance .

Pretty sure any new dewat cant have any moving parts. Plus plugged/welded barrel

Rifle or pistol? You can look up the procedure on the RCMP's website. Basically you must:
Drill hole through barrel and receiver. Drive in pin, weld in place. Destroy breechface, cutting back at 45 degrees. Weld to prevent disassembly.
If it is a handgun, and you want it removed from the registry, the work must be done by an approved gunsmith.

The rcmp website says it must be "confirmed" by a lisenced gunsmith. They mention guidelines on the rcmp site but I can't find them , other than it must be permanent . Just curious if anyone here has done it to a tokarev pistol.

There’s a lot of easy to remove parts in a tok that other tok shooters might like to have...

A 33 isn’t the most attractive piece for a wall hangar either...

I would give the people in Ottawa a call. They will direct you as to the best course of action.
I seem to recall the requirement for an "approved" gunsmith is not required. They mag want to inspect your work... or the might just want images. If (big if) they just want images your best bet will be pictures at EVERY step.

Thanks , pardon my ignorance but who are the people in Ottawa ? I was going to call the office in Miramichi.

If you just want a wall hanger, why not just buy one that's already deactivated? There's lot's of conversation worthy pieces, alternative to the Tok, for sub $400.00. Though the Tok you have is already bought....I get that.

in my files some where , I have the NEW reg. for this , and you can't do it yourself.

I'm assuming you mean the new "guide lines".... note the wording. Please show me any Canadian law that says you can't. While you're at it please find the "guide lines" in law. Oh that's right... you can't.
