Deactived Firearms, AK74, Thompson & 2 FN's

that is in my opinion is just wrong. welding up a perfectly good gun.

agreed but consider this, once there is no canadian with a license to own these what happens to them? likely they will be turned over to the police where they will be promptly displayed on a table for the media to take pictures of while they cops say "look what we took off the streets, who knows whos hands these may have fallen into", then its off for a date with a chop saw or furnace. the alternative is that they get welded up and turned into paperweights where they can still exist as a piece of (no longer functioning) history. it sucks, i hate it, we should be able to own machineguns or anything else we want, but its not our current reality, so in the meantime if these guns cant be in the hands of the most law abiding citizens canada has to offer, then i suppose id rather see them hung on the wall as a deactivated firearm than melted down into the backings for iphones or even worse, liberal campaign pins.

If I really had to hand my firearms over to the police for destruction, I would definitely prefer contributing it to a museum like the War Museum or fairly new Historical Arms Museum, at least there they'll likely be better kept and maintained

If things improved in the future and we were able to own them again, would we be able to get them back from the museum?

Absolutely but museums only have so much space so they cant and wont take everything. And not everything a museum gets is displayed, the majority is put into archives here nobody can enjoy it without special apointment.

As i said id rather they cut the be and let us own machineguns again but deactivation or museum donation are much better options than total destruction. Its a sad situation to be sure.

Love to have an FN, beautifully executed firearm.

Still remember war games at Shilo where we clipped a restrictor on the end of the muzzle so that the action would cycle with blanks. Staff Sgt. told us that sometimes the restrictor comes off and it would hurt the "target". That was the biggest danger that we faced - so different than the real thing.

That will not happen, unless they are welded up they will not want them.
To bad when you can sell a piece of wall art for way more than the working ones, Ie that one is a A1A, should be a 4-500.oo gun, the other, black looks to be a L1A1 great Briton
