Just wondering if Elcan or anyone else can replace the tritium in a scope if its dead? Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, how do you get it fixed?

Don't know about the half life of tritium, but its gone flat in mine, too. I know it is an older Generation 1 sight. I just don't care if the tritium has died, I will never be using it after dark; don't use it much now anyway, because I have to wear corrective lenses to get the reticle in focus.
No doubt Elcan could replace the tritium element.

I was just looking in the optics exchange, and there was another one for sale in there with weak tritium. Is this a common problem?

I think that people hold on to these optics a LONG time......therefore when the tritium starts to go....time to sell.

I've heard it's an awesome optic - I love my Eotechs, but would love to try an Elcan some day - made in Canada too!

try to google armament tech out east...I belive in NB. I heard that they refurb these guys...for a price. I'm debating on sending mine out there in the future.

Half life is 12.3 years which means in that time they'll be half as bright as new. But even new they aren't super bright...they just show up nice in the dark. This is why Trijicon only warranties that long (I know we're talking Elcan but the principle is the same though I think Elcan warranty is less...like 5 years or so). Most will find that they are essentially "dead" in that time period as the glow is so faint. Armament is the place to send it for repair but it'll cost a pretty penny I'm sure...

Just got a bit more info, turns out you would be better off buying a new one then trying to fix an old one. Not worth the money in my opinion.
