Death of a nice buck

Wow. What are the chances of that happening right in front of your trail cam.
I am surprised a deer that size wasn't able to get away.

And there are people who will say that hunting is inhumane. Personally, I'd rather be shot than have my ass eaten by coyotes. Just saying.

:agree:

Back on the farm we had a doe drag herself into our corral area one winter back when I was a kid. A lone coyote was eating her hindquarters at a leisurely rate. By the time I returned with a rifle the coyote was gone, but at least I could put the deer out of its misery.

"Nature" is pretty cruel in its own methods

Ass eaten by coyotes for a few hours before being dropped, and then still alive for a couple more while being eaten at that.

reminds me of the local town council that decided according to a person that brought in pictures of a coyotes eating grass (heard this from the the hunters ed course instructor) that coyotes are vegans and shouldn't be culled despite all the missing cats and dogs in the local area

You're lucky if all you have is coyotes, we have wolves that take down healthy full grown animals in regular numbers.

Really cool to see that play out right in front of the camera.

Looked to me like the deer was standing with it's mouth open, maybe gasping for breath after being run pretty good. The timestamps show it standing around for a long time. Is that a normal defense tactic for deer? Then again, I'm no professional so I could be way off base.
Once a leg - and then two - gets weakened by being bitten a few times there's the scent of a meal in the air for the coyotes!

Nature, both beautiful and cruel.

In the first few pics, the blood on the wound looked dried and scabby. I'm pretty sure this animal was already wounded and weak from it.
