Hello, another question....

I have some primed brass, want to remove the primer. Can I just decap the brass and start over??? No powder or bullet in the brass just a primer, that I assume is live (I didnt prime them and no firing pin signature)....Can I just decap or do I have to deactivate first, like an overnight soak in penetrating oil, then decap????

Your help is greatly appriciated. Matt

just push them out with your decapper that's in your die-it takes a sharp blow like a firing pin to ignite a primer- done it many thousands of times- and you can save your primers- if you use the decapping pin and hammer that comes with the lee loader you may or may not get a bang i've had it happen once or twice- usually b/c the primer has slipped out of the hole in the collar - either way, there's no "explosion" involved- just a really loud pop

Thanks, Tstar, wasn't too sure. I figured it took alot to get it to go off, but wasn't sure and have not set a primer off by itself before, so wasn't too sure on how big of a bang it would make...

Thanks again.

Take your time, just be careful. I've done it when I suspected contamination. I didn't re-use the primers for that reason, but if it were another reason, I'd likely have re-used them.
