I happened across a neat Hex mosin locally, 1935 year. Wood was good+ but almost missing all the shellac. Barrel was dark and counterbored when inspected. Metal is 90%+.
To my surprise after cleaning, the bore is shiny, almost new looking (wonder why they counter-bored?) I hit the very blonde stock with a couple cotes of shellack, it's at least sealed now. The wierd thing is, the inside of the stock looks almost as pristine as my polish m44.
The bolt looks like it had seen rust at one point but was cleaned, either that or the tooling for the bolt was mega rough.
I paid 200 cash for this.
What are hex mosins going for these days, 250-ish? i think i got a pretty decent deal. Pictures tomorrow after work.
