Hi all,

I am going to begin with saying I have actually very little experience with .22lr rifles, having most my shooting experience with full caliber (.308 area) rifles.
Now I have decided I need to get a good quality .22 as just a cost saving measure and something that would be good to train on.

Looking for a left-handed bolt action .22 is actually fairly limited in options but I have narrowed down to two rifles that I am wondering if anyone can tell me there experiences with. The rifles are a Browning Lefthanded T-Bolt (I own a couple of straight pull rifles (G96/11, K31, Steyr M95's) already and am quite fond of them) or a CZ 452 Lux .22 LR Left-handed, which is a more traditional style of bolt-action but is still very nice. Cost wise the T-Bolt is about 100$ more plus I would need a scope to go with it vs the CZ 452 which is iron sights (I tend to do most my shooting with iron sights anyways).

I am just looking for some general opinions on the choices I have here and any other options that people would recommend (not interested in semi-autos or right handed guns as I want to have one actual left-handed rifle).

Thanks

after a lifetime of shooting i finally picked up a couple left handed rifles and to be honest.... i dont like them as much as the right handed ones.
keeping my trigger hand on the gun is nice.
manipulating the bolt with my right hand is nice.
meh, probably just a lifetime of shooting exerting its preference.

as to the left handed 22's.
out of the 2 youve listed id say go with the CZ.
while i have a left handed browning in 300 WSM and dont have the 22 CZ is held in very high regard.

you may also wanna have a look at Savage.
i picked up a left handed Savage Mark II BTVLSS, Stainless/Laminate Thumbhole Stock 21" and its super nice.

here is a pic.

nice gun, very accurate and made in Canada.
and that stock is super comfy!
has the bull barrel already on it and its stainless.
you can find them around fairly regularly and they price is pretty good, i think mid 400 to mid 500.

Get a Cz 452 Lux and then get a Brno match sight...you will not regret it!

Another option is to pick up a Brno model 1, 2, 3 or 4 as they are as good and often better than the CZ 452s.

Note. At 50 yards my cz and brnos with open match sights are as accurate as those same models that Ive got scoped.

Out of the two rifles you mention I would go with the CZ. I owned a T Bolt for a time but it never grew on me. It is factory bedded and although the fit and finish were very nice I found it small and light, too much so for stable offhand shooting (for me anyway). The other thing I couldn't quite get over was the plastic trigger and trigger group housing. I realize there is a place for quality composites on today's firearms, but when the "gold" flaked off the plastic trigger it just kinda ruined the whole thing for me.

I've never owned a CZ but the folks who own them really seem to like them. There are aftermarket goodies to improve the factory trigger and trigger guard if you wish and the ones I have handled felt more like a full sized center fire than the T Bolt.

I ended up replacing my T Bolt with a left hand Cooper Jackson Squirrel Rifle. Beautiful firearm. Wood, fit, finish, and operation all wonderful. It is definitely a step up the ladder in MSRP but it was a "milestone" purchase for me, and one I don't regret one bit.
