Ross Bayo . Given . March 1917 ok figured that out . Canadian C broad arrow ok . But regiment / battle group ?? Anyone give some insight ?
Thx

I read that as: C Broad Arrow, and 11; over crown acceptance mark or inspector, and 3/17. The last one is likely a battalion or company marking not a date.

Hi Accumulator. C broad arrow enclosed is the Canadian gov't ownership mark put on by the Ross factory on all Mark II bayonets intended for Canadian service which this one is. The 11 is a patent date indicating the Model 1911 (first year of Mk II bayonet production). The crown over 4 is the gov't inspection point passing this bayonet for service use and conformity to pattern. The 3/17 is the date of manufacture which in this case is the last date bayonets were made by the Ross Rifle Company until the Gov't auditor put a padlock on the doors in March, 1917. Often unit marks (including CEF units) on these later Mk II bayonets were stamped on the butt end. JOHN

Thank u !! I didn’t know if the “ 1 1 “ or “ L L “ was regimental or such so that answers all questions . Appreciate the courtesy !!cheers
