It took me a few months to decide which rifles to take for the upcoming Moose hunt.
Finally decided on a Brno 21H in 7X57 and a CZ550 FS in 9.3X62 and a Ruger 10/22 for some Grouse hunting.
Now i'm having a hard time to decide witch of the 2 will be my primary and backup rifle

I'm taking two different rifles this year - time to switch it up. Choose one you haven't shouldered in a while, have some fun with it.

I love the 7X57 cartridge... but for moose I can't think of one reason to choose it over the 9.3X62, platform aside... unless the 9.3 is zeroed for 100 yards and the 7X57 is zeroed for MPBR and you are expecting longer shots ?

Actually the 9.3 is zeroed at 300 yards, and i know that the 9.3 is far superior than the 7X57 for this kind of a hunt, also have far superior calibers for Moose to choose from .
It's just that the 7X57s and 6.5X55s kind of talk to me:)

No flies on the 7 x 57. A buddy of mine got back from Africa and shot all of his plains game (including eland) with a 7 x 57 using 175's. I have both the 7 x 57 and the 9.3 x 62 and it's always a bit of a dilemma as to which one to take.

Zero where you want, but 300yds just a guesstimate is going to be 3.5-4" high at 100, and even higher in the 150 range. I don't even zero my magnums for that far. It creates a pretty big window, both bad, and good.

Oh yeah almost forgot, the 9.3 be skookum moose medicine!

Shot my last 3 moose with my 7x57. (And the 3 prior to those with my .308) Haven't yet felt the need for more ummphhfff, though I turn down opportunities I don't feel confident with. Can't say I would (or wouldn't) have made those 'iffy' shots with more horsepower ....

I suppose if I were taking longer shots (200yds+) I would want something bigger, and the 9.3 would be one of my top choices! Have fun and good luck.

6'' high at 100 yds 3'' at 200 yds,and i wont be taking any shots past 300 yds .
If you know your distance to the target it will be pretty easy to adjust your shot, around 150 yds i will aim 6'' to 8'' lower or i can zero at 100 yds and aim higher at 200 and 300 yds.
I don't think it really matters at what distance i zero the rifle, like you said it creates a window both bad and good.
