During the last month of turkey hunting I've had quite a few coyotes make a run on my decoys. One actually came out so fast beside me that she made it 1/4 way across the field with the decoy in her mouth before she got peppered. They seem to be a good lure.
My question is, can you use a turkey decoy to hunt coyotes? The problem I see with this is that is a CO appears and sees me in a blind with a rifle and a Hen decoy out front is he likely to accept my explanation, or is he apt to nail me for hunting turkeys out of season with a rifle?
..or is this a question better answered by the MNR? Does anyone have any experience with similar situations?
