This stuff is made by the same people who make Sea Foam and I was wondering if anyone had tried it as a gun cleaner. I was looking at a can today and it said it was one of it's uses.

I've used it to un-seize engines before and it's pretty good stuff. It was highly recommended above WD-40.
But it'll never beat the ATF / diesel mixture ( there really ought to be a sarcasm font, eh )

Funny, I just picked up a can today after reading that it was good for gun cleaning on the website...

Most people don’t know that Deep Creep works great For Cleaning and lubricating Guns as well as protect against moisture. Deep Creep is a one Step cleaner, lubricant and metal surface protectant. Safe for use on a polymer guns and black powder muzzle loaders.

Tried it on a muzzle breaks and a few sooty pistol cases. G96 and Ballistol did a better job and Butch's even more so. Should have figured that if it really was good, the benchrest guys would have picked upon it long ago...

I have yet to find anything that will get the carbon off of my FTE muzzle break though.

I've soaked it in Butch's and Kroil for days... then put the jar in the ultrasonic. Did nothing to it. I had hoped that this stuff might be magic.

Someone suggested oven-cleaner, which I haven't tried yet...

I have always backed Kroil. But I have purchased some Sea Foam creep and it worked wonders on my ice augers' carb. I can't say Sea Foam creep is better than Kroil but it alot easier to find in my neck of the country.

If you can get a small bottle of hexane from a university or high school lab, it will dissolve carbon better than anything in existence. Keep the lid on it though, it evaporates at an alarming rate.

Have you tried brake cleaner?

I've used it. It's OK but GMC combustion chamber cleaner works better. What could be better at takeing out baked on carbon than carbon remover? I use Hoppes #9 to swab out the real cleaner.

Precision Shooting checked this out and it functioned on carbon in barrels. Friend of mine said it worked on muzzle brakes. Super slippery penetrating soap

Carbon cleaner

I have had pretty good luck with M-PRO7 from Pantheon Enterprises. I tried it on a really caked gas piston assembly on my Beretta Extrema and it worked very well without scrubbing, leave it for 10-20 minutes and it does seem to work. Very nice actually, does not stink, trash your hands and is clear so you can see what you are doing. Their copper cleaner is also damn good. Check out their site. They also rebrand their product under Hoppes Extream too I think.
