HI guys looking to bye a new deer/ coyote rifle .I like the Rem 700 sps youth .it has a 20 inch barrel shorter length of pull. it will be in 243 .I think this will be a fast handling rifle.any input would be appecated thanks.

Other than I do not like the 243 Win for larger deer unless it is in an ideal situation and you limit your shot distance the combo you are describing as long as the barrel twist rate is 1 - 9" or 1 - 10" will be able to do the job for you.

Myself I would stay away from the 243 and move up to a 260 Rem or a 257 Roberts and when I feel that I am competent enough that a little more power is in the cards and I had started reloading I would rechamber the 257 to an Ackley Improved.

you're in NS, so I'm guessing it's just White Tail on the menu.

the .243win will serve your needs well. more then enough for deer & doggies inside 300m.

I've killed many a deer with a 243 out to 200Yds, most around 100yds with 100 grain bullets. 243 was the common caliber for coyotes around here till the 223 got more popular.
