I'd like to plant some grass for other plants around my Cottage to attract deer, it's near Bancroft Ontario and it's pretty Rocky but I have some flat areas around the cottage that would be ideal for hunting purposes. Any advice on what types of grasses or other items I should be planting or should I just cut down the existing grasses with a lawn mower and leave it at that?

Whatever you plant should be something local and familiar. I'd suggest going to the closest working farm and buying a few bales of their hay - not straw. Spread the hay on the area to be seeded, and let nature proceed. Or, ask the farm what hay seed they use so you can plant some.

Alfalfa attracts deer, apples on the ground attract deer but skunks, racoons, bees, wasps and other undesirables love apples just as much lol

If it was me, alfalfa would be my choice. Friend of mine has large chunk of land behind his house up north and there always was a deer or two there but since he planted a bit of alfalfa it is a deer highway.

My property is just south of Gravenhurst On. Might be a little south and west of Bancroft but the terrain would be similar.
I've had good luck planting White Clover on the property. Planted about three years ago and deer seem to like it. Got seed from Peave Mart.

You can buy seed mixtures that are formulated specifically for deer plots. The advantage to the mixture is that it provides food at varying times of the year.

Try winter wheat. Plant it in the fall. It will start growing early in the spring for the deer when they need it the most. They will hang around all year knowing there is food in the spring. I know a guys who does that near Perth ON. Every time I drive by his property I always see deer.
