Anyone know where to get one of those deer hoists that go into your trailer hitch? I can't seem to get one in Canada and nobody wants to ship from the USA!

Too bad you're so far away. Few yrs ago I made one; used it for one hunting trip then have used it for a half dozen pigs, now it sits in the garage.
(we just don't hunt anywhere we can use it anymore).
Weird! When I looked at it this morning it said "can be back ordered"
Maybe that was to get it from a physical Cabelas store? Anyways, thanks- you are a genius!![]()
That's what I want it for! Piggies! Usually I never get the deer to the truck in one piece anyway![]()
Time to get rid of that pink tutu and man handle it into the truck like a real man![]()

I did that for 40 yrs...then my back gave out, about 40 lbs is my limit now and throw in a couple of strokes and I bet you'll be playing a different toon.
I have built a couple of lifting assisters to use now. the first used a boat winch ($ 15 from Princess) and a wood ramp that hooks to the tailgate. The second is basically the same ramp system with an ATV winch instead of the hand one. The hand one worked very good for deer and "just ok" for a moose so hense the change to a motorized outfit. Other than the winch cost, cost was minimal, under 30 bucks each.
The above outfit doesn't help in skinning operation but I can visualize a hand winch/ angle iron tripod/jin pole arrangement could be built for less than 50 bucks that would lift a deer or hog quite easily.

I use the Quick Winch for skinning. It sure keeps the hair, dirt and grass off the meat. The Quick Winch is manufactured in Calgary. We hunt deer in the steep stuff so it has to be cut up and backpacked out!![]()
So if it for a backpack hunt, what do you mean by "go into your trailer hitch"?
The unit can reach a little higher, and higher yet if you drill an extra hole in the sleeve portion. No it doesn't swivel. I usually tube-sock the animal with cheese cloth, set it down and then man handle it into the pick-up box..........much easier with two people of course. Will thst unit swivel so you can load stuff into your truck? How high will it go? Looks a bit short?
