The "fédération québécoise des chasseurs et pêcheurs" is holding a survey on the internet until sept 7 2008 to "consult the opinions of the hunters".

The results will have an impact on the deer management plan for 2010-2016.

There are a few things in there that are good but a lot of it is just plain retarded and made up by a person who obviously knows nothing.

To make things worst, it's only available in french...

Geez, we hunt deer, moose, bear, turkey, ducks .... Imagine paying more than we already are! Eek!! And don't forget about that Wild turkey hunting course......... We had to pay extra for management or whatever it was, and I still had to get my turkey at IGA. hehehe!!

I didn't think all the questions were bad. Some of the new hunters stuff is well-intended but it sure looked weird to see the idea of regulating food plots and baits, screw that nonsense!

Way too much theory and not enough practical management. I like the idea of free tags for first-timers.

I like the parts that encourage new hunters to join the fold.

That said, the trick is to get more money out of the old hunters and then give the new hunters one free year and then they can pay like the rest of us after the first year.

In other words, how can we get more money out of the hunters in Quebec?

Algonquin and rlg: I agree with the both of you, getting the new hunters in as easy as possible is a great thing, we need more hunters. I think those were the only questions I answered with "favorable" or whatever the choice was.

I wonder how much they will value our opinions though...

My wife just did the survey and disagreed with some of the things I thought reasonable mostly because the options provided were usually limited to three bad ideas--just choose one...

She also thought it was lame to not have any provision for comments.

Always try to have someone near who is smarter than you--works for me!

Glad to see a good number of QC CGN hunters responded. There were some bad ideas being considered and I hope we mostly shot them down.
