Deer mating in June?

Last evening I saw a young buck with two point antlers mounted on a doe near the edge of a poplar grove by a field. He was busy. Now that is something I have never seen at this time of year. Is this common? I've never heard of it happening at this time of the year before. Anyone else have similar stories?

Here's what I got pics of last Sunday on the way to my dads, little bugger just stood on the side of the road, then I saw the doe just inside the treeline so I hightailed it out of there cause I didn't wanna scare her off.

Those young bucks are like a 16 year old boy - they would hump a rock pile if they knew a snake was in it!

This picture is outstanding......it should be in a book or something. Or at least a calendar. Good job with the lens. Now teach me to use my camera so when I email gun pics to someone they dont ask me if the rifle has a stock on it ......lol (guess the pics are a bit blurry)

I'm more curious as to how the young and always horny buck got a doe to stand still and let him mount her???

I wonder if bucks are like dogs establishing a "pecking order". A dog will mount another dog, or #####, not to have ### per se but to establish dominance. He does push the little red popsicle while he is doing it, though....

Maybe that buck was just establishing dominance???

Deer are semi intelligent and like dogs will "Play" to pass time
I've often seen does mount other does, chase each other around...etc.
Not uncommon for a Young Buck to Mount another Buck anytime nevermind a doe. Penetration is unlikely as the doe would not be receptive this time of year anyways (sounds like my Wife )
