Hi im looking for a modern deer gun
All my stand are for bow hunting under 40M
Any suggestions for caliber and model of ppc

If you keep your shots under 50 yards, a Kel Tek Sub 2000 in .40 S&W should do the trick. It's the modern equivalent of the 38-40 lever guns of old.

A modern lever action in any of the magnum calibers or .45 Colt are even better choices. My go to deer guns are a Henry X in .45 Colt handloaded to +P pressures and a Kel Tek in .40 S&W - where I hunt now it's 50-75 yard shots so no need for big heavy calibers

What's your budget and optic requirements? There is a pretty big range available...

Also, pistol caliber leverguns are excellent, but I assume you mean a semi auto PCC with detachable magazine.

With good shot placement, any of the currently available options are "technically" good enough. If you want to have a comfortable margin for quartering shots, I'd say go 10mm. Or 45ACP if you reload or can find and afford Buffalo Bore grade ammunition.
 
I have a rossi 92 in 454 Casull, enough for anything that walks on this continent.

I was initially going to go with the same in 45 Colt, but in all their wisdom, or lack thereof, the Sask govt decided to not allow 45 Colt for hunting....

My JR in.40 was deadly accurate up to maybe 75 yards? It surprised the hell out of me. I converted it to 9mm because plinking with 40 seemed unnecessary, but still.

I got a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt, if you handload for it there is nothing you likely want to hunt that it can't handle within 75 meters or so. Too bad you can't use it in SK, but on the bright side you got one in 454 Casull instead! I'd buy one of those in a heart beat if they were available and affordable, only ever see the 20" models in that chambering though, I'd prefer the 16" like my 45 Colt. Sweet carbines regardless.

Yes, all I really wanted to shoot was hot 45 Colt level loads, but with the Casull it gives you a few more options. (Plus with that calibre stamp on the barrel its 100% legal)

As a bonus, I also have a Ruger super blackhawk bisley in 454....

It doesn't need to touch the .44, it has plenty of power to spare for deer especially from a rifle. Keep in mind a plain 9mm PCC is producing about the same ballistics as a .357 Magnum revolver which are used with great success down south. Range is definitely the limiting factor when talking about any PCC.
 
A 170 gr 358429 HP cast at 1,500 fps out of my Marlin .357Mag should do the trick, I have not hunted in years but the same cartridge out of a 6" Smith has worked wonders on deer at ranges out to 50 - 75 yards for a friend of mine in the US. Shot placement is every thing and I believe he keeps his shooting to no more than 50 yards.

Personally, when I lived in Alberta the 38-55 Winchester was with me when chasing deer. My hunting partner carried a 30-30.

As ugly as it is, it is apparently extremely reliable and offers more than enough accuracy for game within reasonable ranges. Hopefully Hi-Point changes their mind on NR barrel lengths for us up here...
