Just wondering what experience people have had with different slugs for deer hunting.

I'm running a 20ga Rem870 fully rifled and plan on shooting at distances of 50-75 yards max. Its thick bush where I hunt so longer shots are pretty much impossible.

Has anyone been using the Remington AccuTip slugs?

Let me know your findings!

I have a Browning Gold 12 ga with Nikon Scope, I have shot with Winchester Partition Golds (2000 fps), many deer at 135-165 yards no problem...Have used Barnes Expanders as well nice slugs....Food for thought....

Also using winchester paritions and my gun loved them. Just pick up a box and let them fly at the range.

When I first got my Mossberg 535 ATS Deer / Turkey / Duck combo, I tried every sabot I could get my hands on locally. The Rem AccuTip was by far the best grouping sabot. The 2 3/4" were fine - 3" were overkill and because of the additional recoil were less accurate.

Last fall, the accutip provided devasting damage on an accidental hind quarter shot when the buck jumped at the moment I pulled the trigger. It ran 30 yards and expired. Bullet expansion was perfect making that 1/2" slug closer to 1". Even if it hadn't severed the femoral artery it would have still done the job.
