They dont have to walk up hill like the ol wives tail and my stand isnt an eye sore against open sky yet they stop each time and look straight at it. My trail cam says so. I'm guessing/hoping that by oct their going to except it as a non issue. Am I right or daydreaming?

The 1st question would be...how high is the stand? I prefer 14'-20' depending on the situation.

Maybe you're too low, or are silhouetted. I always try to have a coniferous tree behind me to break up my outline.

Pretty early...hope it doesn't get stolen by Oct. :(

It's good to have it up now.. if it's homemade or you know it won't be stolen.

I agree with Beefman... they can see it looks out of place, brush it in some at the bottom with an access lane to the side, put salt and corn where they're stopping to take look.

if they're eye'n it up now...wait til there's a body in it... ;)

back cover is all important.cut limbs from green trees and tie them in behind the stand. They'll gawk at something new til they get used to it.make sure there's no "shiny" on it.
consider strolling into yer living room an there's a new end table...you'll look til yer used to it...then one day you forget it's there...next thing you know-BOOM! yer a shoulder mount :D

I'm high enough but its silhouetted. Where I was had no choice. I'm just thinkin that in 3 months of lickin and eatin my goodies we may have confidence

oh ya a lot of guys make the mistake of puting there stands right on the deer trail .you should be at least 20 yards off to the side and down wind of the deer trail DUTCH

I'm 25 yds to the side but because the morning sun silhouettes it so much that must be what got them

How often are you going in there for your camera???

Sounds like you are burning your spot.

Probably won't affect fawns/does much, but bucks will figure you out pretty quick.

Do you really need your camera there???

Should an IR camera bug em that much? didnt at ground level

It's not so much the camera itself (although they do react to the IR cameras), but the noise/ scent trail that you are leaving every time you get the chip out of your camera.

And if you think you're silhouetted now...wait until the leaves drop. A little closer to deer season cut some small cedar trees (3') and brush your stand.

I would move the camera 100 yards away from the stand (downwind).:)

Beefman is bang on!!!! I LOVE BEEF!!!

Cams are fun and it is nice to see what is around, but the big fellas will figure you out in no time.

My best buck stand, does not get visited, until the season is on, and the wind is just right.

My guess was scent also. Your stand looks to be quite high, and if there was zero scent I doubt a deer would be lookin up at it. I don't believe its a natural movement for a deer to took up unless they smell or sense something since they have no natural predators above the ground.

Does it make any squeaks or other noise when its windy out ??? Does your camo blow loosely in the wind???

If you want your camera there put a card in it hook it to a large battey or solar charger and check it once a month. The camera won't bother the deer (even the non ir flash type).
Your new stand will soon go unnoticed by the deer, just keep your visits to the area to a minimum,ie your scent.

We gotta meet sometime. I just went this AM and put big ride on mower bat up there with solar panel out back and 16 MB SD card. Thinking exactly as you said my man that they will come around. Hell its just sumpin new. When the camera was at ground and feeders in they steered away for a few weeks then I couldnt keep feed in and most pics I got were of eyeballs a foot away. And I'm even thinking it may be a blessing cause they;'ll get gradually used to it, and when I get in I'm totally unseen so oct 01 should just be biz as usual,,HAHA
