Hey guys,
I've never used scents before... I know the instructions on the Doe urine bottle say to put it on the foliage around your location, but as I'm usually mobile, has anyone tried using it to mask human odours on one's boots or other hunting clothing?

If it really reeks and this is a stupid idea, dont hesitate to say. Like I said I'm new to the stuff... just got a bottle thrown in when I bought a Lee-Enfield from a guy who was getting out of the game entirely.

Thanks

A big waste of money, learn deer habits, stay down wind, and enjoy.:D

x2.....scents are like fishing lures; made to catch fisherman, not fish. The only scent that Ive ever seen work is Deer Sense burn sticks. As far as liquid doe -in-heat stuff etc, I'd forget it.

I hunt a lot and often use scents. I use it as a cover scent when I haven't been able to make my clothing scent free. No scent is the best scent but I shot 2 bucks in 2 years from the same stand that came in from downwind . I dont think that it is just a coincidence. Mostly I use scents for making scrapes and freshening them. They work great for that. Still, the best setup is the one where you dont leave any scent and try to play the wind so there is no way for detection , but if there is a wind change and you dont want to leave a good spot, pull out your scents and you might just have some venison come in from downwind.

The good doe urine scents have a very short shelf life... fresh is good but after a couple of weeks it goes south. The good ones are collected fom individual live does in heat.... in pens.
Anyone who thinks that the proper use of scent's is not useful for deer hunting is just not informed.
What do you think all those scent glands on deer are for... decoration... last time I checked my whitetail biology the rut was still glandular (scent driven).

when i grow up i wanna be an innernet deer expert....

I agree with Bigredd, anyone who thinks they are not useful probably just hasn't learned to use them right or gave up too quickly.

Sadly some places are introducing regulations that prohibit the use of real deer urine in the scents and restrict it to synthetics (Manitoba is one). They say they are being cautious and worry that the scents may contain infected urine from deer farms that may have TB or CWD. A stretch I think and.................as I expected, no one is paying any attention to the law anyways.

With ### scents you have to be very carefull. If used at the wrong time it can actually keep deer away. You are better off using curiosity scents and cover scents like acorn, fresh earth, pine etc.

The synthetic hormonal scents can be very effective.. I have seen bucks standing on their hind legs and licking a drip bottle many times with both synthetic and fresh doe in heat urine.
You will likely see new laws everywhere soon, to prohibit the sale of deer urine/parts in scents due to the spread of CWD. Just collect your own.

i found taking a NEW pair of sock washing them with either unscented soap or hunting specific laundry soap* i use the HS stuf with the natural earth cover scent* and soaking it in urine and tying to the ankle of your boots via spare laces or para cord is a a good scent drag also helps cover your scent

Experiment
Find three different deer piss brands.

Do this over three nights using a new brand each night.

Put a dab of deer urine behind each ear and head out to the bar and see what hits on you.

The piss that wins the most hits is the one you want.
GOOD LUCK
