My grandson shot a doe deer, approached it and it jumped on him and flailed him until he fell down,he eventually blew the deers head off. My first Driller had a buck jump up and put him in a world of hurt. He'd shot it, approached, setting his rifle down while drawing his knife.
The buck jumped up and hooked him a few times, breaking some ribs. The deer then laid down and continued expiring while Martin ( drillers name) laid there in pain til he crawled to his rifle and performed the 'coupe de grace'
I don't approach unless they are really immobile.
I've had a buck jump up as I slit his throat...not cool. I ended up on my back watching him standing 10' away bleeding out.
Coupe de grace from then on.
