I fired 13, new manufacture, rounds,
with split necks down into the shoulder, before realizing the rounds were defective. I checked the loaded round I had left, and discovered that one in 4 had a split neck. At this time I also discovered that because there was little neck tension I was easily able to push the bullet further into the casing. This may have happened when the rounds I fired were chambered. My question is, does anyone think the gases, during firing, may have cut the chamber. As well, do you think, if the rounds were pushed in during chambering the resulting excess pressure damaged the chamber. I know that a gunsmith can check with a bore scope for cutting, but can he also check if the chamber is out of spec. from the possible excess pressure.
