Just bought a Winchester SXP defender.
There is a bunch said here on the forums about the different makes
and models.
Winchester doesn't seem to be one of them.
On another post down below on the same topic, there is talk of a
Browning defender.
I didn't know Browning made such a beast.
Is it better than the Winchester?
Sell this new unfired Winchester and buy the Browning?
Always been a Browning fan.
Pro's and con's between the two?
Regards.

Your gun is ugly, that's about it. :p

The Browning BPS is a fine gun no doubt but you were obviously happy with your purchase until you read other peoples opinions. Funny things happen when people listen to other opinions before forming their own, those opinions seem to take on a life of it's own. Do you like your gun? If so keep it. If not, I'll give you twenty bucks for it. I'll even cover the shipping.

The fact is you are probably the first person on these forums to own an SXP as most places do not have access to sell them yet.

So go with it, it is based off of the Winchester 1300 Speed Pump so I am sure it will be a great gun, only downside is it is made in Turkey but, Turkey produces nice guns and s**t guns so its 50/50 I guess.

No uglier than all those 870 tacticals and 870 clones and Mossbergs.

Is the SXP coated with Duratouch like all the more expensive Browning and Winchester Synthetics, my SX3 is and its awesome.

Thanks for the honest reply Winchested, muchly appreciated.
As to you Fudd, eye didn't wish for someone to comment on my feelings.
There was nothing informative on your post other than Browning makes a fine
firearm which I already knew.
Your offer of twenty bucks doesn't even pay the tax, so...............

I'm pretty sure he's joking by the smiley.

Brutal honesty is usually the best path. You have a cheap, imported pump. Yes, a BPS is a superior gun. Also yes, your gun will work just fine for what 90% of cylinder choked 18" shotguns are used for; blasting pop cans and pumpkins. I had a Winchester 1300 'Defender' when I was younger, did just that, destroyed lots of pop cans, shot a bunch of crows, and grew out of it and moved into real sporting shotguns that get used a lot more, and are a lot more fun (ie. 'normal' shotguns, not mall tacticool). This is of course, personal opinion.

Lebaron's in Toronto has the SXP defender shotgun for only about $30 more than the Maverick 88. I have thought about buying a SXP, just because the great price on them. They are about $50 less then a 870, and I think the 870 is a total piece of __it. Atleast the one I owned sure was.

I think that Winchester has sort of become no frill Brownings, which is fine by me because they are really good quality, they just don't have the bells and whistles like some Brownings. Kind of like the Winchester SXR semi auto rifle is a no frills Browning Bar.

Both Browning and Winchester are made in the same places with many the same parts (maybe not all but a good chunk of them anyway) My winchester defender was labeled browning as the make on the paper work online with the verifier when I did the transfer.hmm...
Many many guns now are manufactured in Turkey both browning and winchester included...
Please don't flame me as I like both firearm companies and am only going on the info that I receive from the shipments I have gotten from them.
My sxp defendor is an awesome shotgun.

The Browning has a top tang safety, same as the Mossberg. If you're actually planning to carry it for protection, this could be a deciding factor. I suspect everything else is close to equal. Personally, I prefer the heavy duty military quality of the 590A1. It takes abuse better than anything else I've owned.
