What would everyone recommend as a degreaser/cleaner for a new semi. ?

I normally use Remlube as a lubricant. Is there anything better?

Thanks,

I used Carb cleaner on my Norc M14's trigger group... Worked very well to get the mystery crud off... Just had to lube the hell out of it after.

Sorry, just realised this was in the Shotgun section...

Not sure if that'd work on a shotty, as I don't have a semi shotty! :(

Remington Shotgun Cleaner (has a pic of a clay bird on it). It doesn't harm camo finishes or wood. If you don't have camo, and can keep it off the wood, Crappy Tire makes a de-greaser spray. For the gas piston in a semi, I let it soak in Hoppes No.9 over night, then spray it down with the Rem Shotgun Cleaner.

Rem lube is ok, but G96 Gun Treatment is way better in my opinion. Although I use Rem Dry Lube (Teflon) on my recoil spring and recoil spring tube.

Your local welding supply shop sells a really good degreaser. It's Walter Slap Shot, not too expensive, spray it on and wipe it off. Leaves the parts nice and dry afterwards.

Brake Clean and G96 after. Another good product is Walter X-Force. It will clean and leave and leave an oily coating on your parts.

Boiling hot soapy water also works very well, followed IMMEDIATELY by a WD-40 spray and compressed air. That's for serious grease/oil buildup. Brake cleaner, varsol, etc. all work well also. But for a new gun, just take it apart and wipe off the grease with a cloth, and then lube sparingly with your favourite oil or whatever.
