DELETE: How much tax on imported antiques?

HOw much tax do the Customs people ....or CBSA collect on antique firearms coming in from the US these days? With the new 13% HST in Ontario does it apply to antiques......anybody know? Thanks........wTc

they have always charged gst and pst so it should be no diffrent.
never been charged duty as most are USA made guns so free trade kicks in.
$5 handleing fee tho thats still there + HST

I just got a Remington o/u derringer the other day for $350.00 they
charged me 44.35 for hst plus a $5.00 handling fee.

Don'tcha just LOVE their little 'handling fee'? They did call it a 'service fee' for a while until it was pointed out that it was no service to the CITIZEN and that they ought to bill the Gummint because it was a service to THEM.

Good thing is that there are no DUTIES on Antiques (anything pre-1898) of any kind coming into this country.

BTW, there is no duty, no tax at all if you just bring in gold coins and minted silver, postage stamps and things like that, no matter what the metal composition. A US Eagle might be worth the best part of a grand, but it still says '10 dollars' on it, so that's all it is! Traffic in coins, bullion, stamps all are governed by multinational treaties because the Banks would scream if they had to pay any taxes.
