Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what a Mauser 71/84 [Spandau 1888] bubba's rifle is worth. Bolt and action look good and work. Barrel has been cut to 25", wood cut off about 5" forward to the barrel band, elevator part of rear sight is missing, butt plate is missing, rear section of stock is decent.
Actually, the bore is very good and quite shinny........measures .429 with a caliper at the muzzle so guessing its a .43. Think it could be made into a shooter......no magazine so meets antique status....I think.
Thanks for any help.

Need to see a pic, but between $80+ship to $200 ship incl.

Was it cut in front of the mid band or rear band?

Edit - also, is the bolt turned down, condition of cartridge elevator and mechanism, etc?

I think antique status is determined by permanent single shot, but I'm not sure. I've just seen 71/84's with the mag mouth in the reciever plugged and welded, so I assume it's necessary to meet requirements.

71/84s have to be registered by the CFC. I think the 71s are granted antique status.

Parts guns are simply worth the value of their parts. I wouldn't count the barrel as being worth anything because hardly anyone fires the caliber anymore and yours is cut down. I would focus on parts like the bolt and the internals of the magazine as some 71/84 projects out there are guaranteed to be missing small little parts that can only be salvaged from other 71/84s.

Pictures and a description of their condition and functionality are important in this case.
