bad boy beeson...one of the dealers here. He'll hook it up. I just got a mesa side saddle for my 870. It's more expensive than the TacStar but much worth the difference.

The MESA, is THE WAY to go for side saddle, TacStar work good until you have to work with it, i have lost some round in the bush, never happend with MESA. The holding système is also FAR BETTER, 2 sleve that you insert that replace the factory pin, there is hole in it so no way you can over tighten the 2 screw a la TacStar...

Just my 2 cents and personal experience

I have a mesa tactical side saddle on my 870 with the rail attachment as well. The nice thing about the Mesa side saddles it the rubber piece that hold the shells in place can be replaced if it gets worn out. I got mine from dave's surplus and tactical for about 130 bucks including tax. If you want a cheaper side saddle go with the tac star, their way cheaper.

As stated we stock both of them, the mesa is the best.
But, they both have the sam issue, which is then when left loaded for a long time they compress and the shells do stay in so well.
of the 2 the mesa is the better one but 2x the price.
if you have to use the tacstar in the cold i.e -30 the shells will not stay in upside down.

Yup BBB will hook you up, bought a mesa from him and love it

I did, swap out the factory rubber retainer with a heavy duty vinyl one (personal preference) as factory works fine

Can you mount the Mesa or Tack Star to the right side of the shotgun butt stock via rivets. Can you put a slight bend in the shell holder to conform to the slight radius of the butt stock before mounting or is there a Mesa or Tack Star for this purpose?? If so it would give you 16 rounds to pack around.
6 slugs, 6 00Buck, and another 4 in the magazine of what ever you choose. Nothing weighing the pockets down. This was the outcome.

Yup, Mesa is the way to go.

I have an 8-shot  Mesa saddle FS on the EE. It's $ 780 but comes with a free shotgun attached.

BBB, do you sell the rubber gasket for Mesa Tactical? I have a 4 shell holder on the right side of my receiver and the shells have been very loose since the day I got it. Essentially useless the way it is now.

I bought a tacstar one yeserday at P&D but dont think I really care for it. Since I live in a different city, looks like I now have a brand new $37 part to add to my gun surplus pile.

Anyone ever look at making some sort of DIY replacement device for the Mesa rubber insert? Something "grippier"?

The mesa tactical is the better unit, but it still has its issues.
the main one buing ig you leve it loaded the shells will compress the ruber strip and they may fall out.
we are working on somthing that is so much better then that, where you can leave it loaded and they will never fall out.
Its such a great idea we dont want to talk to much about it as well will be applying for a patent for it.
