I have picked up two leather Enfield slings from John Denner in Ontario (w ww.denner.ca). Both are original leather slings. The first one, in the picture below with my 1905 (before I installed it, and before I realized the laced end goes at the butt end) was coloured black, and stamped OHG w/ a number.

As I hope to get a Mk III and/or a Long Lee at some point I recently called about getting another one. They're down to the last few in stock, and the remaining ones are missing the sliding keeper. I bought one anyway. This second one is brown, also stamped with OHG and a number. I'll get a new keeper made up locally for a few bucks.

It appears that the Canadian-Contract Ross used three different widths of leather slings over the years....thinnest (1 1/8") for the MkI's and early MkII's with the "wire" swivels, then the middle width(1 1/4") for all the rest of the short MkII's and the widest ones (1 3/8") on the heavy MkII**'s and MkIII's. The US Contract MkII***'s used the canvas Kerr "NoBukl" slings. Most, but not all real Canadian slings will show one of the WWI Saddlers stamps. All Canadians must do the required metric conversions as per PET's directions!
