I just got a used CZ mod. 511 SA. I received the gun in like-new condition and everything was shiny inside and out. When to the range to give it a try: one out of 5 shot just made stove pipe. It look like the bolt don't go back far enough to eject the spent brass out of the gun. I've tried Win Wildcat, Win Expert HV, Dynapoint Target and Win 333. They all gave me stove pipe.
Is it possible that the recoil spring be too stiff ?
How about cutting a small lenght of that spring. Anybody had tried it?
I don't want to ruin the gun in doing so.
Thanks for the help.

Do not cut the recoil spring.

Try different ammo, quality stuff for comparison.

Check your grip and stance, make sure the grip is firm and the arms not too relaxed.

Edit ~ Clean the chamber well. Lube the exterior of the barrel and the rails. Lube the extractor pivot.

I think I solved the problem. When cycling the action by hand the cartridge was not extracted. It stayed in the chamber.
I took out the extractor from the bolt and found it was bent the wrong way. I put it straight and installed it back in the bolt.
Now each time I pull the bolt to the rear it extract and eject the cartridge.
Now to the range for some test.
