Has anyone else out there had problems with their TAR21 triggers...

Mine started giving me some unusual grief at around the 500 round mark...

Please just respond with an answer ... I don't want to hear long stories about how Glocks are better than 1911's.

Thanks,

Garbal.

READ FURTHER DOWN>>> YOU WILL UNDERSTAND

I'm using Federal 55 Grain... stuff in the red boxes... bought 1000 rounds of the stuff and I'm about half way though it.

Thanks for your suggestions so far.

Garr.

Ok,,,

I'll spell it out... I didn't exactly know how to approach this because of the nature of the trouble...

Here it is... every now and again it goes full auto on me... the first two shots are fine but the last three go bangbangbang...

And NO... It's not for sale!!!

I haven't contacted the dealer yet... I plan to tomorrow... but for now this thing scares the #### out of me and I've got it taken apart and laying in pieces.

So there you have it!

Sorry for the vague nature of my initial post but maybe now you'll understand my attempt at discretion

Sounds like you're getting a slam-fire due to your free floating military pin.

What ammo are you using? If its something with a soft primer, like a match round, its possible that the action of the bolt is throwing the firing pin a tiny ways forward. Not enough to strike a hard military primer like this gun was made for, but enough to set off your softer stuff.

If you write to Can-Am they should send you a civilian spring loaded bolt+firing pin.

Make sense? Anyone else think I'm way off?

was this one of the first Tar21's that came into the country ? or was it purchased just recently ?. they did have a change in the FP because of this problem. Talk to Canam he can tell you more.

and just because something is slam firing does not mean you are going to have the RCMP kicking in your door for having a full auto firearm.

i think my tar21 has a spring on the firing pin to keep it from being free floating.

Yes, sounds like you may have bought it used and the previous owner did not upgrade the firing pin (free). Alternately, we have mil-spec ammo in stock.

Shoot me an email and we'll sort it out.

Problem... what problem? ;)
Sounds like you might have the military bolt if this is one of the original Tavors. This can be remedied in the interim by switching to ammunition with mil-spec primers (PMC or RUAG are two off the top of my head).

No Sah... bought it new from you boys... Canada Ammo... this was one of the first batch that came in... I was on the original Waiting list.
OK, give us a call. We called all the original guys and about 20% never responded to the offer of a new bolt. We have them in stock.

forgive my ignorance... but what's the difference?

I know I could probably google this but why with the wealth of information here...

What's the difference between the two and how do I know whether I have one or the other ... It's sitting on my reloading bench right now in pieces is there any way to readily identify which I have?

Thanks,

Garbal.

Original bolt had a free floating firing pin. Newer civilian style bolt has an internal spring that keeps the firing pin set to the rear. It should eliminate your slam fire issue.

excuse the fuzzy photo, but you can see the spring around the back of the firing pin.
