What are the Benelli Supernova tactical shotguns like compared to the Remington 870 tactical? The price is comparible.

i have a Nova Tac. it has a larger, 'puffier' frame and is completely non-customizable. the SuperNovas are a bit more customizable but still nothing compared to the complete versatility of an 870.

otherwise if you dont intend to do much in the way of customizing them and are happy with the way they are, they are a good deal and very reliable.
IMO the build quality of the Benelli is better and the ghost rings are a plus. if you ever want to make your tactical gun 'non-tactical' by putting on a standard hunting barrel, itll be a simple $125-150 proposition on the 870 but will cost 2-3x as much on the Benelli since their barrel costs are insane. same goes for having the barrel threaded for chokes - the Benellis is chrome-lined.

i can't speak to the the "tactical" side of things, but I almost bought an 870 express 28". I was bothered that the top of the vented rib wasnt straight - it had a wave to it that I really noticed when sighting down the barrel. And this wasn't a one-off defect. I tried three different 870 expresses (including trying out my buddies) and they all had the wobble down the rib.

In the end, i spent more money (almost double, actually) and went with non-tactical Benelli Supernova. No regrets, and money well spent IMO. The Benelli is very well built, and shoots even better. The Comfortech stock and the fact that the Benelli will chamber anything in 12ga from 2 3/4 through 3 1/2 is a bonus. Teardown and cleaning is simple as well, and no tools required.

imo the supernova is much better shotgun , i`ve had a nova and now a supernova tactical and they are very smopth and user friendly . afaik the mercury recoil reducer is optional . you can find the accessories you want for the benelli you just have to look a little harder and pay a little more is all.
