I believe that Rick at ATRS made some laminated stocks for his 50s in years past. For all things 50, he is where I would start.

Consider imbedding a long aluminum, or even steel, bedding block into the wood to add rigidity to the connection between the action and the stock.

I don't want something extremely wide like the 5" wide benchrest stocks. I do want it flat on the bottom though and flat on the back end also running parallel with the front of the stock

Something like this one but completely flat on the bottom front and back

I've never fired a .50 before but I would be awfully worried that little slender stick of wood above the thumb hole would snap and stab me right in the neck!
