Shot this bull right at the end of legal shooting Oct 6th. We had been calling in an area without any success and when we walked back out to our ATV's this bull and a cow were down in the cutblock 250 yds from our quads. Shel spotted them.
I moved down towards them and got to about 200 yards. My first shot with my .416Rem 400 gr Hornday IL hit him about 1/3 of the way up and right through both lungs. Shel instantly fired a backup shot with his .338WM and it was a bit far back, through the liver and stomach. Amazingly this bull took both of those rounds and did not fall. He staggered forward about 10' so I fired again. This bullet hit him in the spine and dropped him instantly.
By the time we gathered up equipment to field dress him and worked our way down through the cutblock to him it was pretty much dark.
The rack tapes 50 2/8" across 10x11. Nice bull.
We recovered 2 bullets from him. Shel's 225gr Nosler Part was lodged against the hide after passing through him and my second shot that shattered his spine was also stopped on the hide.

Now here's some pics of some bulls we called. FYI in 8 days hunting we only managed to call in 5 bulls. Calling was tough as all the big bulls seemed to be tied up with cows. When we left the bush (today) it seems like the rut is really going hot and heavy now.

My buddy Shel called this bull out Sep 29... 15 mins into our hunt... it is around 50" +/- 2". The bull is about 30 yds in this pic.
Anyway I passed it up just cuz it was way too soon to shoot, but this bull is a shooter. We're already talking about looking for him next year. We know where he lives.

I called this ~40" bull out on Oct. 1st. He was about 40 yds but the battery in Shel's camera was dead and he didn't know how to operate my camera. So the bull was about 150 yds away when I took this pic. This bull really came in grunting and raking.

11:15 AM also Oct 1st. Another 40" "meat bull" that I passed up.
