Dented brass and loose sight but overall impressed

Finally on days off so I could take my new Norc M4 to the range and wring it out. What a great gun! Ran flawlessly and was just a plain fun gun to shoot. Took a while to get it sighted in, still learning about the sighting system on this platform. I was shooting at 25 yards off a bag with the rifle supported on the hand guard.

One thing I noticed is the rear sight is loose. It has about a 1/8 of an inch deflection (pivots) side to side. It seems to return to center but I'm guessing this is not normal.

Another thing I noticed it would dent some of the brass on ejection, about 7 in ten. What would cause this?

Besides those few wrinkles I am extremely impressed and would certainly recommend the M4 as an entry level AR.

From what I understand (keeping in mind that I don't have much experience with ARs, or autoloaders in general), dented brass is a pretty common and normal thing and is fine to reload, just so long as it's not to any extreme or cracked obviously.

That's your group at 25y? You should really work on the rear sight and get it fixed.

At 100 yards I print this group with iron sights (10 rounds through a LAR Mag):

All I had to shoot at was a shingle that day... Forgot proper targets. But that's about 3" resting my elbows on a table. Bags would be better, I'd imagine.
So you should be getting better than what you see here at 25. Probably close to one hole at 25, really...

I think the case dents are inherent to the AR's design, no?

The sight looseness is not good. That group off a bag at 25 yards should be waaaaay closer

As for dented brass, some ar's just do that but should be fine to reload
