Looking for an affordable semi for the range for new shooters . Considering getting rid of the SKS for the new Derya TM-22 … I know the tm-22 is still new but any sight would be great. Is it worth getting rid of the sks for it ?

Why not keep the SKS & add the Derya?

Tracey Wilson (CCFR) has a Derya TM22 for introducing new shooters to the sport. Last I saw, they torture tested it with tons of rounds and it just ran & ran.

SKS is a tool with many, many practical uses. TM22 is a toy that may or may not also serve as a tool occasionally. I'm with Jay, just add the Derya to your roster.

A lot would depend on the accuracy at any distance beyond 25-yds. I'd keep the SKS 'cause like J. said it has '... many, many practical uses ... ' where the TM is a range-toy unless it has exceptional accuracy. Dont know what the cost is up here, but one can buy accurate rifles for 'about' the same price. Or you can buy an 'automatic' BB gun w/o a pal.

My TM22 has been great and once I sighted it in with flip up irons as well as a red dot it was very accurate. Great plinker with AR egros.

i guess it depends on what you want to do - I find unless on a sled a red-dot is not especially accurate unless the red-dot cost more than that rifle. Shooting cans ?? My Sav-64 can do that with a red-dot for under $200 all-in.

Appreciate the feedback. May have justified having both. The range I would be using the tm22 at is only 25 yards and seems like a good fit to get people interested in shooting.
