desert eagle 5.0

If you plan to shoot it more than a few times then buy the 44 magnum. Even so it is a novelty gun. Nothing wrong with that though.

If you are the type of person that buys a gun then sells it after a while then a 50 AE is OK. Get some kicks (litterally) out of it, get it out of your system, and then get some of your money back when you sell it.

I am new to the sport, and have fired a .38 calibre dual action revolver - I find this isn't powerful enough for my liking - does anyone have experience with this Desert Eagle 5.0 firearm and is it good for target practice? When I enter a sport I always like to "go big or go home", so I figure the Desert Eagle is the way to go. Comments welcome.

You shot the most mild center fire round there is out there, the .38Special. And since that didn't meet your expectations you want to jump up to the biggest caliber handgun that is more or less readily available?

I'd suggest you stop the hunt for the moment and go find a range that rents handguns so you can try out a bunch of them. Rounds with more "life" to them that won't break the bank account like shooting the 50AE will are such things as .40S&W, 10mm and .45ACP in semiauto and .357Magnum and .44 Magnum in revolvers. Even the lowly 9mm cartridge has more kick than the .38Special.

A .50 cal Desert Eagle would make for an excellent first handgun. It's super reliable and the ammo for it is very affordable. Highly recommended for a new shooter .

Agreed. It has great penetration too, I can score headshots through crates and doors but it has a small clip and it is expensive, especially at the beginning of a round. The Gold-plated version is more reliable.

my .02 shoot more and see what else you like.

the hk mk23 tactical in .45acp is a brute of a gun, but does have function. a friend of mine bought a de.50 in chrome and loves it and shoots it regularly. he has deep pockets and hands that resemble a sasquatchs.

The 50AE is a pussycat cartridge. Go for the S&W 500.

And ammo isn't too badly priced, $60 per box...........

per box of 20.

Just get a Ruger or a smith in .44 mag..
If you go Ruger then hand load to max pressures. It'll cure whats ailin' ya..
Darn accurate too, though arguably the trigger on the Ruger could use a little work.
