Just got my DE XIX .44 today :D Trying to take it apart but cant remove the barrel. I owned a DE VII .357 Mag 2 years ago, and it was easy to take apart.

The manual says to put the hammer in the half-cocked position and put the safety on, push in the putton on left side and swing down disassembly latch, then pull foward barrel, then slide comes off.

I did all those things, but once I have the disassembly latch down the barrel wont budge.

Any suggestions.

Fixed, I took it to the range and pumped 100 shots threw it, worked it in a little and after I could field strip it easily just like I remembered...barrel can right out :)...I guess cause it was so new and tightly fitted together ?

Recoil on the .44 Magnum was suprisingly very pleasant to shoot. I recenty had a SW 629 Classic .44 Magnum, and my hand was ringing after a box....this Desert Eagle I can blast away all day !!! :)

Very accurate too...tight groupings at center mass & head shots from 25 yards. Experienced several FTF/jams (Mabee 10 out of 100 rounds), but I was totally expecting that from this hand cannon...reliability isn't DE's most known strengths. Funny thing though...when it did jam, it was when I was holding it with a tight "tactical" stance/grip. But it never happend when I was standing like a wet-noodle firing with one hand/"limp wristing"..go figure?

Anyways, very happy with this bad-boy...I've never seen such a more beautiful finish on a gun...polished chrome that you can use as a mirror to brush your teeth in the morning :)

Nice, I envy you. I've wanted a .44DE for as long as I can remember.

I heard though that the achilles heel on the DE's is a tiny screw located on the underside of the slide that can work loose and cause the slide to get stuck. Is this true (do you see a small screw on the unserside of the slide?)

I don't know if it is true, or if it was older revisions that had it. Either way, awesome! Please post pics!!

I always get brass in my face no matter how tight I hold it. I know not to limp wrist it but I still get it every 2nd or 3rd round. Awesome gun though.

That's hot! Nice pics!!
If you get a chance, could you take one of the underside of the slide :) I've never actually fondled a DE before (in detail); only shot one, once.
