who sells Desert eagle pistols in Canada. I am thinking about maybe getting a 50ae in the next couple months and I dont know where to start looking for prices and stuff. Please advise.

How set are you on getting a 50ae? How much do you plan on actually shooting the gun? IMO I'd get the .44mag (like I did), because you get a really good bang with .44 still and the ammo doesn't cost nearly as much, plus its readily in stock as well for that spur of the moment trip to the range.

thanks man, the one they have at TSE looks like it belongs more in a rap video than in my hand:rolleyes: That store in NS seems very expensive and if their HK prices are any indication of their price for the Eagle I dont think I would buy there. I am looking to buy around December, maybe a christmas present to myself!:dancingbanana:

I only want the Deagle because I want a .50 and I cant afford a .50BMG rifle......it will mainly be used to impress people who have seen it in the movies;)

I know alot of the hardcores on here dont appreciate the wow factor you get with a very impractical gun, but I certainly do!!

I hope you don't think the .50 Action Express is similar to the .50 Browning Machine Gun because there both 50's . It sound like you are saying , that since you cant afford a 50 cal rifle , you will get a 50cal handgun . Forgive me if i'm wrong , but your post sounds that way . They are totally 2 different animals.

he probablu know that I'm guessing it's just the five-O factor he's after...

+1 on the .44mag, as much fan as .50 but way more practical, plus .44mag is cool too :D

Impractical, yes. I shoot mine every couple of years, maybe. If it wasn't so heavy I might shoot it more (I tend to shoot one handed). I take it to the gun shows (with 25 other guns) to promote handgun shooting at our gun club table. http://www.mts.net/~wrpa/ Some in the crowd love the D.E. Others get excited over the single shot black powder guns, others love the Styer 1912. Impractical but I like it. My first gun was a Ruger mark I, second was the Desert Eagle. Would I ever sell the D.E. Not likely.

The ones I have seen need some serious trigger work. Long and gritty and heavy. I lightened mine up some. Have not had the time to smooth things out.

I think the 50 AE in Canada is silly. But if you only shoot a box every year then who cares. If you want to shoot it more often then seriously consider the 44 magnum instead. If you have way too much money then go for the 50.

How much does the ammo cost? I actually have no idea.

I got an AR15 and just bought an HK USP .45 so I have toys to fiddle with but everytime I buy something I begin to think about whats next and I have decided that maybe a Desert Eagle is the one. If I am going to buy a .44mag I would probably buy a revolver ala Dirty Harry. That would be badassed. But in this case I dont think the Desert Eagle would appeal to me so much if I wasnt shooting the 50AE (not the 50BMG Desert Eagle that I dream about).

that .50 fealing will wear off after you buy a coule of boxes of ammo. IIRC it's about $2-3 per round, that's $100-150 per box of 50  .44mag is $25-30, I reload .44mag for about $12 a box :)

anyways if youre set on .50 get an additional .44mag barrel so you can actually shot the gun...

good advice- how much does it cost for an additional barrel?

I need to get into reloading, sounds like it pays itself off...

I think I bought mine in 1997. An earlier model without the extensions on the safety and on the slide release. Used but like new, two mags. I think I paid about $750. I might have put 350 rounds through it so far.

Oh yeah. I have asked other D.E. owners this and also got confirmation from them. The brass has a tendency to hit you in the forehead. Good to wear a ball cap when shooting it.

When I bought my Desert Eagle .44 I was at the time considering the .50 but brass and bullet costs changed my mind, I only shoot my handloads through it never buy expensive underpowered ammo. One thing with the .44 if you load up 180 gr. bullets with 31.5 gr. of H110 you get pretty much the same fireball and boom of the .50 but at a fraction of the cost. You also get neato molten copper deposits on the face of the gas piston, I guess the back of the bullets are melting on the way through the barrel.

Saw a 50AE eagle at wild west last weekend. It was finished in gold tiger stripe.
