Hey fellas. Looking for some info/ products to consider for my DMR. (designated marksman rifle) (for more information click here)

Based on the info at hand, DMR's typicaly have 4x magnification. The DMR's in the US military use ACOGs- but what are the Canadian equivilents using? The DMR in the Canadian Military are the C7CT and the C8CT- both of which are variations of either the C7 or C8.

As well- should a DMR have irons? I would assume not, but the info isn't that specific.

To summerize: What would you reccommend for optics that is AR friendly with 4x magnification, that isn't a red dot, and comes in under $1000?

Based on what I have been told from serving members, Standard Optics for the Canadian and US Military are the Elcan C79 (POS) and the ACOG. Some are using Eotechs and Aimpoints thought but from what I know the Elcans and ACOGs are the most common. For a "DMR" type rifle I would want a little higher Magnification, 10x at the most. Leupold makes a mark 4 in a 2.5-8 and a 3.5-10x scopes which is what I recommend.

If your fixed on a 4x scope I would go with a trijicon Accupoint 1-4x or a Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x

BUIS Sights would be necessary in a military role IMO. For your uses since your not depending your life to the rifle I wouldn't consider them necessary, thought they look cool, and I like having them on my AR.
