Interested in the rifle version with the pistol grip as an accessory so I can switch between restricted and non legally with paperwork rather than stuck with a restricted only pistol with a rifle stock

As long as it was registered as a restricted only because of OAL , you can get it changed , but if it was registered as a pistol , I think you're SOL , once a pistol . always a pistol .
Yes, I have done it with my ACR's. If you bring the shotgun in as a pistol then they will not
