Hi folks,

I just purchaced an Iver Johnson Model 66 Trailman with the top break action. The trigger pull is problematic and i have went ahead and disassembled the pistol to clean/polish and get rid of years and years of internal grime etc.. At the moment, the receiver and some other parts and soaking in lacquer thinner because there was quite a buildup of old grease etc.. I am in Derperate need for some form of Assembly/Disassembly manual or maybe a helppul Blowup schematic of the parts. The schematics i have seen on Numerich's site doesn't help as far as showing where the parts locations are. I took very good care in making sure i saw how things were placed and how they came out but of course there's one that splipped by. So if anybody can some how link me or send me a pdf or anything at all that will help me out in putting this back together and making sure the timing is correct i would deeply appreciate it. I couldn't find jack squat on the web for the model 66 nor could i find any for a similar model.

Also if someone who has intimate experience with this revolver can pm me and donate a bit of his time with me I'd be forever in your debt.

Thank alot.

Rob

Go here for an exploded view. IJ has been gone for some time though so Gunparts is your only source for anything but pictures. Take it out of the lacquer thinner and put it into some Varsol (aka mineral spirits). The gunk will come off faster.

I wouldn't spend much money on it. IJ revolvers were very low end. You're unlikely to find a manual on-line either.

Thanks alot for the link. Very helpful. Especially since i just f-ing lost the sear spring  When i was taking all the parts out of the thinner, the sear spring must have fallen out of its little hole in the sear. Of course I didnt f-ing notice until i already dumped out the thinner :bangHead: So now, I just bought myself a useless revolver until i can find a spring that size of an ant.

I hope Numrich will have some or even wolf springs. Long shot though i think.

Thanks again.

Rob

Check out the Revolver Assembly/disassembly book by J.B.WOODS. Wholesale sports has the book, check to see if the Iver Johnson is in the book, before buying it. They are a series of books covering , Military rifles, sporting rifles, .22 rifles, shotguns, revolvers and auto pistols. It is all in pictures with instructions, not just written instructions. It is where I go if I am taking down something for the first time. Also J.B. WOODS has a book called "Gunsmithing tips and tricks of the trade" that helps get old guns that are hard to find parts for, back in action.

While I am not certain of the dia. of your sear spring it's just possible that the flint spring from a disposable lighter might be of the right diameter. They fit into a 3/32 hole. I have used them in numerous projects with acceptable results.
