I like the fixed magazine because it feeds flawlessly, but i dont like it becuase it takes a bit of work to get it off the riffle. I have heard that it can be done. has someone ever soldered the bottom and then ground the top so that it can become detachable? I would love to see a plan for this job. thanks

You don't need a plan , just instructions should be fine. I have done it before the arrival of SKS-D. I still believe that it is easier to load from the top with stripper clips but , hey , if that's what you want , go ahead.
Leave the mag "lips" alone. Modify the bolt as on SKS-D. Grind off the protrusion in the middle of the mag's spine , drill and tap 2 holes on each side of the mag ( through both walls and with mag in the receiver) and install short machine screws ( the alternative is steel rivets or TIG weld). You're done !!!!

Thanks kasat. I have the t6 stock so I hate having to remote the triger group and put them back evrytime I need to change mag. I use the duckbill mag a lot too becuase I use the sks for huting.

why does the bolt have to be modify for this to work ? i prefer not to touch the bolt if i dont have to.

You might have serious feeding problems after meddling with mag "lips" so modifying a bolt is much better alternative and in this configuration you will be able to remove the regular mag without retracting the bolt. Leave your original bolt alone , buy a spare one and play with it !!!!
