what are the options for a rifle chambered in .243win with a detachable mag? I know the sps comes in a dm version, but am not as familiar with other manufacturers offerings. Any reccomendations?

Does this limit the ability to switch stocks? ie can you still switch to a h-s precision stock if its not setup for a detachable mag? (mods required?)

thanks

I found when I wanted a 243 with a mag that your best bet is a 700 with a hingle plate and then purchase an aftermarket mag. There are a few. V-Bull and Badger both use AI mags so the quality is top notch. HS has a good mag for the 700 action and kwik-klip is a cheaper drop mag that works well too. All of those require a bit of inletting still, but they give you more options for your stock.

V-Bull does offer a drop mag for Savage short actions now too. Again, they would have to inlet it for you, but its another option.

For hunting - you may wish to consider Savage. Their Euro Classic is a particularly nice piece and is available in .243, For target / varmint work consider a Tikka T3 Varmint HB in the same caliber. Both these rifles come with detachable magazines.
