What are my option? I'm looking for a new stock for my rem700 5R that has a detachable mag with it, does one exist or am i stuck buying the stock and detachable mag hardware separatly.

Thanks in advance.

I installed a new bottom metal in the "factory" HS Precision stock that came with my 5R to accept removable magazines. If you absolutely want to go the new-stock route, I personally would lean towards the AICS chassis.

You have so many options with your Remington 700. Here are some that I've used:

AICS - Just screw it on, and it will work. It is heavy, and you might not like the ergo.

MDT Chassis - Much like the AICS, but has different ergo.

Vbull - Works really well. Need to modify your stock for it to fit, though this can be done with hand tools.

Alberta Tactical detachable mag system -- Much like the Vbull system, but faster to reload. I am told that they have newer versions that have the mag release on the side, and use AI AW mags. Big +s there IMO.

H&S detachable mag - Drop in, no stock mods needed. Mags aren't as good as teh AICS ones used in any of the other systems above.

I've got a BC Tactical version that I'm installing nice and slowly right now! I'll take pics as I move along. Will get back with a report soon.

The only downside to using the AI mag is that they are hard to find in decent numbers/ supply!

Cheers,
Barney

You could always go for a tube-stock
