DiamondBack AR-15

YES, I just bought one... Thought it was a decent entry level AR....thinking it had a smooth free float, it came with a quad...looked good and felt ok...took it apart to clean it and everything seemed tight..ok...took the bolt carrier out to clean it and when I took out the firing pin retainer kotter pin it broke in half...piece of crap, almost plastic...At that point I thought ok pos...As is it's probably worth about 600.00 bucks not the 900.00 I paid for it...The BCG is gone, replaced with a BCM BCG, the handguard is gone replaced with a BCM handguard...also replaced the charging handle with a BCM.. The stock is an ATI and it's ok, the handgrip is ok I don't mind it...The trigger is ok haven't even shot the gun yet. The barrel seems ok...We'll see once I get it all together and get to the range...All in all if I had to do it again, I'd either build myself a new one from base or buy high end and pay the 2 or 3 grand for something decent.

I bought the DB 15 with the quad rail...So far I've replaced the forestock/handguard, the bolt and charging handle all BCM, and I've got a Magpul stock with a Rainer Arms buffer tube kit as well as the Magpul front and rear iron sights...Next is a Rainer Arms match barrel in 223 Wylde...If I had to do it again I'd just make my own build or buy a really good make like a Schmeisser or something else Daniel Defense, LWRC etc.

The pin broke, or the BC broke? ??????

Why would you change all that on a new gun what you still have not fired?
Why not send it back?
Because it's mediocre...When I broke it down to clean it I started with the bolt, when I took out the firing pin retainer pin it split in half..It was almost like plastic... the forestock was a quad that was heavy and unwieldy...The pics I had seen didn't show this...the stock is an ATI with a lot of wobble...the barrel I'm not changing until I try it out, but since I'm upgrading I like the idea of the Wylde barrel....So like I said, my lesson learned.
