Tried out my brand new Diamondback AR-15 last week and was using some surplus .223 ammo, had misfires (light primer strikes), failure to feed and failure to eject issues...got home and subsequently cleaned thoroughly and oiled and wet down...Tried snapcaps to see how it's functioning...two different mags, the original Diamondback 5 round and also the 10 round pmags....on both magazines, on some occasions feed and eject fine...then I get the same thing failure to feed/eject jamming and one other weird thing is that it will lock the bolt back with a round just above the mag??? What the hell. is going. on? I don't get it..Can't be just the two mags...Hellllllp lol

The failure to feed sounds like it could be a loading issue. My mags use to do it when I half ass load them (sorry no other way I can describe it, I'm not sure how I am doing it, but requires me to unload and reload my magazine if it happens). As the bolt comes back, extracting the spent round, the front (projectile side) of the next round in the mag immediately pops up out of the mag while the rest of the round stays in the feed lips- angling the round up so the rear of the round isn't near the bolt. It triggers the bolt hold open or physically blocks the bolt from closing. I've had it happen with c-products 5 round mags and LAR mags from c-products. Never a pmag/beowulf mag.

The fail to eject/light strikes COULD be ammo. If your bolt carrier group looks good (and your cotter pin is holding the firing pin in place) try some different ammo. Also lube it well. AR's like to be run well lubed.

That sounds exactly what is happening regarding the mags...I'll take a look at some better mags...I was using the LAR Mags and the diamondback mags...Now the second issue very well could be the cheap milsurp ammo Wartak...I tried my reloads and they worked fine. I have a BCM bolt and BCM charging handle, a Rainer Arms buffer and recoil spring and a BCM free float handguard...I wondered if maybe I accidentally messed up my gas block so I'll see what happens with new mags and better ammo.. Hate to take that handguard off, it was a biatch to put on. Anyway thanks for your answer...You've confirmed some of what I was thinking...
